This Privacy Policy explains how Memoria: Life & Memories (“Memoria,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information in our iPhone app and on this website. It describes what stays on your device, when information is sent to a service provider, and the choices available to you. For privacy questions and requests, contact support@getmemoria.cc.
1. Privacy at a glance
Memoria is a personal photo journal and life calendar. You do not need to create a Memoria account. Your memories and settings are stored locally by default. Optional iCloud sync stores supported content in your private iCloud database. Apple processes payments, and RevenueCat receives purchase and limited app-activity information. We do not sell personal information, display third-party advertising, or use your memories for advertising.
“Stored locally” does not mean that the app never connects to the internet. Photo downloads from iCloud Photos, optional sync, map searches, purchases, and the purchase service can involve network requests, as explained below.
2. Memories, profile, and local storage
Memoria stores the information needed to provide the features you choose to use, including:
- Your memories: text, dates, selected places and coordinates, photo references, layouts, frames, stickers, formatting, and personal templates.
- Your profile and life calendar: an optional date of birth, your chosen lifespan reference, avatar selection, and display preferences.
- App preferences: language, appearance, haptics, onboarding choices, reminder settings, and photos you exclude from future suggestions.
- Local working files: image previews, rendered memory cards, temporary exports, and widget data used to make the app responsive.
This information is processed on your device for the corresponding features. We do not send your local profile, date of birth, original photos, or written memories to RevenueCat. We do not operate a public feed or a Memoria account system for your journal.
The lifespan you choose is a personal visualization setting. Memoria does not calculate a medical prediction or collect health records to estimate how long you will live.
3. Access to your photo library
With your permission, Memoria uses Apple’s Photos framework to find photographs by date, display past moments, and let you create and share memory cards. Depending on the access you grant, it can read available images and associated information such as photo identifiers, capture dates, and image dimensions.
You can grant full or limited access, change the selected photos, or revoke access in iOS Settings. Text-only memories remain available without photo access. Features that need a photograph may be limited when permission is denied or an original is unavailable.
Original photographs remain in your system photo library. Memoria saves references to those photographs and creates local previews and exports. If an original is stored in iCloud Photos, Apple may download it to your device when needed. Deleting a memory or excluding a suggested photo does not delete the original from Apple Photos.
4. Optional iCloud sync
Memoria Plus includes an optional iCloud sync setting. Sync starts only after paid access is verified and you enable it. Memoria uses Apple’s CloudKit service and the private database associated with your Apple Account; it does not publish your memories to other users.
Supported sync data includes editable memory compositions and personal templates: their text, dates, places, layouts, identifiers, and modification information. Cloud-compatible photo references help reconnect a card to the corresponding image in your iCloud Photos library. Original photo files are not uploaded as part of Memoria’s CloudKit records. Photo availability on another device depends separately on your Photos library and permissions.
Memoria also uses an iCloud account identifier and synchronization metadata to keep records associated with the correct account and reconcile changes. It does not receive your Apple Account password. The composition payload uses CloudKit encrypted fields. Apple’s services, settings, and applicable terms govern iCloud storage and protection.
Turning sync off, uninstalling Memoria, or letting Plus expire does not automatically erase existing iCloud records. When sync is active and available, deleting a synced memory or template sends its deletion to iCloud and your other synced devices. You can also manage the app’s stored iCloud data through Apple’s iCloud storage controls, where available. Device backups and iCloud Photos are separate from Memoria sync.
5. Places and maps
When you search for a place, Memoria sends your search text to Apple Maps. Showing a map can send the selected coordinates and map request to Apple. A place you add becomes part of the memory and, if you enable sync, its synced composition.
Memoria does not request continuous or background access to your device’s location. Adding a place manually does not require permission to track your current location. If you open a place in an external maps service, that service processes the request under its own privacy policy.
6. Widgets, reminders, and sharing
Widgets use a local shared container between Memoria and its widget extension to display selected memories, previews, calendar information, and access status. Widget content may be visible to people who can see your Home Screen or Lock Screen. You can edit or remove widgets using iOS controls.
Optional memory reminders are scheduled locally through Apple’s notification system. Their time, frequency, and enablement are stored on your device. You can change them in Memoria or disable notifications in iOS Settings. Separately, Apple may deliver background notifications to keep optional iCloud sync up to date.
When you use Share, Memoria prepares an image and opens the system share sheet. The app or destination you choose receives the exported content and handles it under its own terms. A shared card can include the photos, text, dates, and places you put on it. We do not automatically publish your cards or send them to your contacts.
7. Purchases and RevenueCat
Apple processes Memoria Plus subscriptions and one-time purchases through the App Store. Memoria uses StoreKit to check purchases, restore them, and determine access. We do not receive your payment card details or Apple Account password.
Memoria also uses RevenueCat for purchase records, subscription reporting, and purchase-related analytics. Its SDK starts when the app launches, including for people who have not purchased Plus. It uses a generated app user ID rather than a Memoria login, name, or email address. This identifier distinguishes a purchase-service profile; it does not mean that the records are entirely anonymous.
Information processed by this service can include transaction and product identifiers, purchase and renewal dates, subscription or entitlement status, storefront and currency, SDK and app versions, operating-system and language information, and timestamps showing when the SDK communicates with the service. Servers also receive network information, including an IP address, when handling a request. These records help us understand purchases and active use and maintain purchase reporting.
Automatic device-identifier collection is disabled in Memoria’s RevenueCat configuration. We do not provide advertising identifiers, your iCloud identity, your photo library, or your memory content to RevenueCat. The current app uses its own purchase interface and does not use RevenueCat’s hosted paywall interaction tracking.
8. Support and diagnostics
If you email us, we receive your email address, the contents of your message, and any attachments you choose to send. We use these to respond, investigate the issue, and maintain an appropriate support record. Please send only the information needed for your request. Support mail is handled by the email services used to deliver and store it.
Apple may make crash, performance, or usage information available to developers through its systems, depending on your settings and Apple’s policies. We may use available reports to diagnose problems and improve reliability. The current app does not include a separate third-party crash-reporting or general behavioral analytics SDK. RevenueCat’s purchase and activity processing is described above.
9. This website
This website presents Memoria, links to the App Store, and provides these legal documents. It does not include advertising pixels, Google Analytics, session recording, account registration, or a contact form. Its fonts and images are served with the website. The website code does not set analytics cookies or store a visitor profile in your browser.
The infrastructure that delivers a website necessarily receives technical request information, such as IP address, browser or device information, requested URL, request time, and response status. This information may be processed to deliver pages, troubleshoot failures, and protect the service. Clicking an App Store link takes you to Apple, which applies its own privacy practices. Sending an email opens your mail application; the website does not receive an unsent message.
10. Advertising and other uses we do not make
We do not sell or rent personal information, share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, build advertising profiles from your memories, or combine your app activity with other companies’ data for targeted advertising. The app does not display third-party ads or request the advertising identifier (IDFA).
We do not send your photos or journal entries to a cloud AI service or use them to train our own AI models. Memoria does not access your contacts, microphone, health records, or payment card information. Information you independently choose to include in a memory or send to support is handled as described in this policy.
11. Purposes and legal bases
Where European, UK, or similar data-protection rules apply, we process information as necessary to provide the features and purchases you request, respond to support requests, and meet applicable legal obligations. We rely on legitimate interests, where permitted and balanced against your rights, to maintain security, troubleshoot problems, and understand purchase-service activity.
We ask for system permissions and optional choices for photo access, notifications, and iCloud sync. Where processing requires your consent under applicable law, you can withdraw it through the relevant settings or by contacting us. Withdrawal does not affect processing that was lawful before withdrawal. Reading this policy or using the app is not, by itself, consent to optional processing that requires consent.
12. Service providers and disclosures
Apple provides app distribution, Photos and iCloud services, maps, notifications, and in-app payment infrastructure. RevenueCat provides the purchase-related services described above. Email and website infrastructure providers process the information needed to deliver their respective services. We do not give these providers your journal content for their own advertising.
Read more in Apple’s Privacy Policy and RevenueCat’s Privacy Policy. Apple and other providers may act independently for their own services and legal obligations.
We may disclose information we control when required by law, to respond to a valid legal request, or when reasonably necessary to protect people, enforce rights, or prevent fraud and abuse. If operation of Memoria is transferred, relevant records may be transferred with appropriate safeguards and any notice required by law.
13. Retention and deletion
Local memories and templates remain until you remove them. Removing the app normally removes its local app data, but exported images, original photos, cloud records, device backups, and App Store purchase records may remain separately. Local caches and temporary files may be cleared or replaced as part of normal operation.
Support messages are retained for as long as reasonably needed to resolve the request, handle follow-up or disputes, and meet legal obligations. Purchase-service records are retained as needed for purchase history, reporting, restoration, fraud prevention, and applicable obligations, subject to provider policies. Technical logs are retained according to the operational and security needs of the service that processes them. We do not promise deletion of records that Apple or another provider must independently retain.
For deletion of information under our control, email support@getmemoria.cc. We may need information sufficient to locate a purchase profile and verify your request. An email address alone may not identify a generated RevenueCat profile. We cannot directly retrieve or erase journal files that exist only on your device.
14. International processing and security
Apple, RevenueCat, email services, and website infrastructure may process information outside your country, including in the United States. Applicable safeguards for international transfers depend on the provider and the countries involved. Where required, transfers must use a legally recognized mechanism, such as an adequacy decision or approved contractual safeguards. Contact us for information about processing under our control.
We use reasonable safeguards appropriate to the information and services involved. Your device security, permissions, Apple Account, and backup settings also affect protection. No system can guarantee absolute security or uninterrupted availability. Avoid sharing a device or unlocked screen with someone you do not want to see your memories.
15. Your choices and privacy rights
You can edit or delete memories, change your local profile, adjust photo permissions, disable reminders, remove widgets, turn off sync, and manage iCloud storage through the relevant app and Apple settings. You can manage subscriptions in your Apple Account. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a portable copy of personal information; restrict or object to processing; withdraw consent; and complain to your local data-protection authority. California residents may have applicable rights to know, delete, and correct information and receive equal service when exercising privacy rights. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Send requests to support@getmemoria.cc. We will respond within the period required by applicable law, explain any applicable exception, and request only verification reasonably needed for the request. Some choices may affect features that need the information.
16. Children’s privacy
Memoria is not directed specifically to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under that age through support or our other services. Where local law sets a higher age for valid consent, that law applies. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.
17. Changes and contact
We will update the date above when this policy changes and provide additional notice or obtain consent where required. A future feature that changes how information is handled will need to be reflected in this policy.
For questions about privacy or to exercise your rights, email support@getmemoria.cc.
